Welbeck Takyi scored the only goal for Tano Bofoakwa against Paga Crocodile Stars on Saturday afternoon to bag crucial three points for The Hunters in the Division One League match day 27 fixture at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
Takyi’s solo strike was enough to leadfrog log leaders Real Tamale United (RTU) who now sit second with 53 points as they make a trip to face B.A United on Sunday at the Sunyani Coronation Park in their match day 27 clash.
The lethal forward has been in sublime form for the Sunyani based side contributing to 19 goals in 23 games, scoring 14 and assisting 6 times.
Following their painful away defeat to RTU on match day 26, the home team were eager to make amends and keep their Premier League dreams alive.
Being the side with the majority of possession, they created the best of chances in the early staged but could not make them count.
In the 39th minute, Welbeck connected well from Bright Boakye’s cross to head home the only goal to mark his birthday on a good note.
After recess, Bofoakwa kept pressing for a second and were awarded a late penalty but susbtitute Sammy Osae was denied by the goalkeeper as they held on to their lead to emerge victors.
The win sends Bofoakwa summit on the league table with 55 points in 27 games.
