Hasaacas Ladies FC continued their dominance in the Ghana Women’s Premier League as they pummeled Ampem Darkoa Ladies 4:0 to be crowned champions, for the 5th time, on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at the Madina Astro Turf in Accra.
Hasaacas Ladies finished on top of the the Southern Zone table with 34 points (10 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss) while Ampem Darkoa Ladies also emerged as the leaders of the Northern Zone (10 wins, 4 draws, 0 loss) – and the two teams came face to face in the final for the championship title.
Goals from Faustina Aidoo Nyame in the 11th minute, Evelyn Badu in the 30th minute and a brace from Doris Boaduwaa in the 70th and 84th minutes respectively ensured that Hasaacas Ladies cliched their 5th league title in the 2020/2021 season.
The Hasmal Ladies appeared hungry for success in all departments of the game and lived up to expectation. However, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who never tasted defeat in their zone this season, were a pale shadow of themselves.
Ampem Darkoa were chasing their third league title and hopes were very high ahead of the game but their dream was shattered as they conceded four unanswered goals, two in each half.
In a post-match interview, Head Coach of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Joe Nana Adarkwa admitted that his side were abysmal on the day while their opponents were on top of their game.
The last time the two teams met was in 2019 during the final of the Ghana FA Normalization Committee Special Competition where Hasaacas Ladies defeated Ampem Darkoa 3-2 to be crowned winners of the competition.
For their reward, Hasaacas Ladies received GH₵50,000, a giant trophy and medals while Ampem Darkoa Ladies took home GH₵30,000 and medals.
Comfort Yeboah of Ampem Darkoa Ladies was adjudged the Discovery of The Season, Constance Serwaa Adjemang of Berry Ladies won the Player of The Season award while Ophelia Serwaa Amponsah, also of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, received the Top Scorer accolade with 17 goals.
Other winners were Hasaacas’ Janet Nana Ama Egyir and Grace Banwa who were adjudged Defender of The Season and Goalkeeper of The Season respectively.
In attendance were President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt E.S. Okraku, Chairperson of the Women’s League Board, Mrs Hillary Boaten, Head Coach of the Black Queens, Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo among others.
