DOL: Bofoakwa Tano’s ‘darling’ boy Welbeck Takyi misses penalty in defeat to Steadfast

Lethal forward Welbeck Takyi could have chalked his 12th goal of the campaign but missed a spot kick as Bofoakwa Tano picked up a disappointing   2-0 away defeat to Steadfast FC in the Match Day 18 Zone 1 fixture of the Division One League on Thursday.

The visitors started brightly and got the opener but centre man Emmanuel Otoo disallowed and signaled for an offside.

The former B.A United and Berekum player was awarded a penalty kick in the 28th minute after a push on him.

Takyi’s effort was saved by goalkeeper Abdul Ganiu Mohammed to mark his second miss of the season with the first against Berekum Arsenal.

However, another penalty was awarded to the home team in the 35th minute as Mohammed Sherrif sends goalkeeper Jafaro Rufai the wrong way to hand Steadfast the lead at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

With eight minutes to go, Alhassan Siisu doubled the lead with a decent strike to seal a comfortable win for league leaders despite ending the game with 10 men.

Takyi is currently the second top scorer in Zone 1 with 11 goals in 18 games.
