Ghanaian midfielder Hope Avayevu marked his debut game for North Texas SC with an assist in their empathic 4-2 victory over Fort Lauderdale CF in the USL League One on Sunday.
The former Faith Soccer Academy and Kiddus Academy product was handed a starting berth but made way for Tanzania youngster Bernard Kamungo in the 71st minute.
It was the visitors who strike first through Venton Evans in the 14th minute to put Lauderdale in front.
With two minutes to hit the hour mark, Thibaut Jacquel fetched the leveller with a superb volley from Hope’s delivery inside the penalty box.
The visitors were on top of the game and doubled the advantage ten minutes after the break.
Shaan Hundal was left unmarked in the penalty box to score from a tap in.
Fast forward, Thibaut Jacquel restored parity for the home team with a teasing freekick at the edge of the penalty area in the 70th minute to register his brace.
Two minutes later, Gibran Rayo fired home the third goal through a solo effort before substitute Bernard Kamungo placed the icing on the cake in the 79th minute with a powerful left foot strike to seal North Texas first win in the season opener.
