Ghanaian midfielder Solomon Mensah came from the bench to play an integral role for Aswan SC in their narrow 1-0 over El Gouna in the round of 16 Egyptian Cup on Friday.
Veteran Egyptian defender Amr Al-Halawani’s 88th minute strike was enough to seal a quarter final berth for the South Flowers.
The former Bechem United skipper joined the action in the 70th minute replacing Egyptian midfielder Mohammed Gamal as he put up a Man of the Match display for his side.
The tireless defensive midfielder’s introduction proved to be a tactical for Coach Sami El-Sheshini making it difficult for El Gouna to penetrate earning him praises from his mates after his outstanding performance.
Aswan will meet Al-Borseidi in the 8th round of the Egypt Cup.
Mensah has made 13 appearances for Aswan in the ongoing campaign.
