Enterprising forward Welbeck Takyi continued with his superlative performance as he scored twice to propel Bofoakwa Tano to a comfortable 2-0 win over Nsoatreman FC in the Division One League on Friday.
After failing to be on the scoresheet in the last four outings, Takyi announced his presence in the second round with a brace taking his tally to 11 goals.
Bofoakwa were the better of the two sides and came close with some decent chances in the early stages.
Minutes later, Samuel Oblitey went pass two defenders before he was brought down inside the penalty box resulting in a penalty kick.
Leading scorer Welbeck Takyi sent the goalkeeper the wrong to hand his side the lead in the 11th minute.
Before the stroke of first half, goalkeeper Jafaru Rufai pulled a splendid save to deny Nsoatreman the leveller as referee blew his whistle to end the first half.
The visitors kept pressing for the second and it was paid off a minute after recess, Samuel Oblitey’s drive was punched out, Welback was right at the spot to pounce on the rebound and bagged his second on the day.
Despite creating the best of chances after the two goals, they held on to their lead to mark their first win in the second round.
