MATCH REPORT: Legon Cities 1- 0 WAFA SC – Royals sink ‘Academy’ Boys to snatch first win

It turned out to be a joyous Friday evening for Legion Cities at the Accra Sports Stadium as they recorded their first victory of the campaign against WAFA SC.

The Royals broke their seven games winless run to record a 1-0 slim win over the Sogakope based side on Match Day 8.

Following their poor run of results, Bashir Hayford and his charges started brightly and created most of the chances with Jonas Attuquaye coming close with a free kick on the 15th minute.

Baba Mahama was flashed the yellow card on the 30th minute for a late tackle.

Despite playing some delightful football, Legon Cities failed to convert any of the chances as the first half ended goalless.

The second department of the game saw a more hungrier Legon Cities side in search of a goal as they efforts paid off on two minutes later.

Joseph Adjei stepped up to give the home side a deserved lead via a spot kick on the 48th minute after teenager Mathew Anim Cudjoe was brought down in the penalty box.

Raphael Ocloo made way for Nasiru Moro on the 55th for Legon Cities.

The home side held on to their lead to seal all three points on the day.
