[GPL MATCH REPORT]: Karela maintain top-spot after beating King Faisal 2-0 at Aiyinase

Karela United are living the best time of their lives in the Ghana Premier League as they remain league leader after match day 5 following a comfortable 2-0 win over Kumasi-based King Faisal at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Aiyinase.

The ‘Pride and Passion’ are unbeaten after five games – recording three wins and two draws to earn 11 points.

King Faisal seemed to have broken their duck after picking their first Premier League win for the first time in six years following a 1-0 win over Inter Allies, but the score line after Karela’s game seems to show their nemesis are back to hunt them once again.

The ‘Insha Allah’ boys proved a tough nut for Karela in the opening 30 minutes but they soon succumbed to pressure when striker Diawisie Taylor grabbed the opening goal with a minute to recess.

Back from recess, midfielder Franklin Osei won a penalty for Karela with the hope of increasing their tally but Diawisie missed the spot as the game remained 1-0 on the 73rd minute.

The visitors could not make anything from their chances as former Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Boateng made it 2-0 five minutes later.

King Faisal will welcome Hearts of Oak to the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman in their match day 6 game but will have to honour week 3 outstanding match against Ashanti Gold in Obuasi. Karela will hit the roads this time by playing a gust to Bechem United.
