It has been confirmed that each Ghana Black Stars player earned $2,000 in their friendly encounters against Mali and Qatar according to the country’s FA president Kurt E.S Okraku.
In an interview with Nhyira FM, Mr Okraku revealed the players had their focus switched on producing a solid performance for the country rather on monetary issues.
Ghana were beaten 3-0 in their first game against the Eagles of Mali in Antalya, Turkey before coming out of their sticky shells to properly respond in a 5-1 wobbling against 2022 FIFA World Cup host Qatar
The FA president also revealed to the public that Ghana earned nothing from the two friendly games as they [the FA] took charge of all expenses.
“The players were paid $2,000 for the friendly games [unlike the $5,000 we used to pay after each game] because of the circumstance at hand,” Okraku said.
“However, let me hasten to add that the players were not interested in the monetary benefits, rather team building. This is because we are preparing a new team for the future,” he added.
Ghana is set to honour their 2021 African Cup of Nations Qualifier doubleheader against Sudan next month.
