Jordan Ayew becomes sixth Ghanaian footballer to test positive for Coronavirus

Ghanaian and Crystal Palace striker, Jordan Ayew is the latest Ghanaian to have tested positive for coronavirus.

This was confirmed by Head Coach for Crystal Palace Roy Hodgson after his side were held to a 1-1 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion in the English Premier League.

Jordan joins the list of five other Ghanaian footballers Bernard Mensah, Kassim Nuhu, Joseph Aidoo, Gideon Mensah and Caleb Ekuban to have tested for the virus.

Jordan was on international duties with Ghana in Turkey where they lost to Mali and won against Qatar.

However, it seems the player contracted the virus in Turkey while on International assignment.

“Unfortunately he tested positive for Covid in our last test on Friday,” Hodgson said.

“He’s been away with Ghana, which we weren’t exactly delighted to accept that he had to do. Like several other Ghanaian players I believe when they have gone back to their clubs they have tested positive.

“Now we have to follow the relative government and Premier League guidelines before we see him again.

“I don’t know [when we’ll have him back]. Don’t ask me to stand here and explain all of the Premier League government guidelines when it comes to Covid.”
