Ghanaian international Gideon Mensah has completed a three-deal with Swedish Allsvenskan side Varbergs BoIS from Danish club Nordsjælland FC.
The 20-year-old right-back spent last season on-loan with Varbergs and ended up impressing head coach Joakim Persson.
Mensah put pen to paper on Wednesday afternoon after contractual talks were agreed by both parties.
Varbergs have initiated a clause which allowed them an option to buy after his loan expiration and they have done justice to it by securing his services for the next three seasons.
Head coach Joakim had this to say after the deal was signed.
“We’ve gotten to know him for a while and it feels like a pretty safe card,” he told the club’s website.
“Gideon has a good longer game, [he] is physically strong, has the speed and is good on the head [aerial qualities].
“He has all the attributes that I think a young promising midfielder should have and is an extremely talented player. He has also blended in nicely and thrives well in the team,” he said.
He has already made seven appearances for Varbergs – starting three out of them. They will face IFK Norrköpings on Saturday.
