President Akufo-Addo, in his 17th address to the nation, announced the return of football after it was banned in March this year due to the outbreak of the global pandemic Covid-19 – spanning a 189-day without football in the country.

In his address, president Akufo-Addo set October 30 for the resumption the Premier League, Women’s League and Division One League.

However, Acheampong, who is the former Ashanti Gold CEO claimed that, despite listing the ban on football, the FA will be meeting with stakeholders and football administrators to fix an appropriate and more comfortable date for all.

“The 30th October date set by the president for the return of football is right for the GFA,” he told Kumasi FM.

“Though the president has said we can start on the 30th of October but the GFA can choose any other date after the prescribed date which we deem convenient for the clubs.

“We will choose a more appropriate date after we consult the clubs,” he concluded.

Players of all Premier and Division One League are mandated by the President to undergo the Covid-19 testing at their camping base before the start of the. They will once again be tested in the middle of the season.

Stadia across Ghana will also allow 25% of spectators into their stadium’s during match days.
