Ghanaian attacker Ropapa Mensah scored twice as Pittsburgh Riverhounds thumped Hartford Athletic by 5-0 in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship round 1 at the Highmark Stadium.
An early goal from 26-year-old Canadian Ryan James shot Pittsburg into the led 13 minutes into the game before Ghanaian Ropapa doubled their lead on the 27th minute following a comical error between the goalkeeper and his defender.
Anthony Valverde made it 3-0 from the spot with three minutes to recess.
James elected himself to complete his brace two minutes after the break after benefiting from another error at the back.
Danger man Ropapa fed on Robbie Mertz’s through ball and neatly lobbed the ball over the on-rushing goalkeeper to peg the scores at 5-0.
The win pegs Pittsburgh at 28 points after 13 games and on top of the Eastern Conference league table.
