The purported transfer move from Ashanti Gold to Asante Kotoko has kept on rocking back and forth for months as midfielder Latif Anabila finally reveals that will only happen if the Miners decides to let him leave.
It is the worst kept secret of Kotoko’s long admiration for the tall-lanky midfielder who has attracted other clubs to his fold mainly because of his marauding duties on the field of play.
With the Porcupines Board of Directors considering on featuring in Africa next season, it will be prudent to have squad in-depth by augmenting the playing body with experienced players and thus the need to tie him down before the qualifying rounds start.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Fox FM, Latif said;
“I am still a player for Ashanti Gold and still in contract renewal negotiations, but you can never say never in football,” he said.
“I can only play for Kotoko if Ashanti Gold decides to let me leave.
“I appreciate the commendations from the supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko because it is a motivation to me,” he added.
Despite revealing his love and eagerness to play for Kotoko, it will be difficult for him to join the Reds solely because of their involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup next season and their willingness to make an impact and go beyond where they reached last season, after being bundled out by Moroccan RS Berkane in the second round.
