Former Asante Kotoko coach, Bashir Hayford, has revealed he has an unfinished business with the club and further availed himself to become the club’s next Technical Director or Youth Team coach if his services are needed under any of these portfolios.
The club is beginning to take a different direction after a Lydia Nkansah-led fact-finding committee led to the constitution of a new board – which is tasked to change the fortunes of the club and make it economically viable in the world’s market.
In their quest to put proper structures in place, the board is rumoured to be looking to hire a technical director to assist head coach Maxwell Konadu and, in addition, revive and strengthen the crumbled youth team.
Bashir, who had a terrific season with the club in the 2007/2008 season – winning the Ghana Premier League with games to spare says, he is ready to unleash his experience garnered over the years.
Speaking to Asante Kotoko’s online portal, the former Somalia national team coach said;
“I have heard that Kotoko want to establish an Academy, and I will be the first person to apply to go and start it if they advertise it,” Bashir Hayford tells Kotoko Express App.
“If there is also a Technical Director job and they are interested in me, I will do it.”
On becoming the Technical Director of Kotoko, and a possible friction between him and the other technical members, he revealed by saying;
“I don’t think (Coach) Maxwell Konadu working with me will be a problem. As for Johnson Smith, he has worked with me before as my Assistant so if I am becoming the Technical Director for them, I don’t have a problem.”
“I will not be interfering with their job but to supervise and help them so we can achieve the common goal. So if the chance comes, I will grab it but won’t lobby.
“That is because I have the capacity and so always want my work to talk to for me. I have a master’s degree in administration and management so with this and my technical knowledge what can’t I manage? He quizzed.
