Coaches yearn for Kotoko job to improve their CV – Bashir Hayford

Former Asante Kotoko gaffer, Bashir Hayford, has claimed the coaching job at the club has become a breeding grounds for most coaches in the country to improve their curriculum vitae (CV).

Kotoko, over the years have hired a plethora of trainers, both local and foreign all in a bit to strengthen the technical department, compete at the highest level and fetch laurels for the club.

Foreign coaches such as German Hans Dieter Schmidt, Finnish trainer Steve Polack, Croatian Zdravko Lugarusic, Norwegian Kjetil Zachariassen, just to mention a few have all paid their dues to the Porcupine Warriors and gone on to secure other contracts elsewhere

In the local scene, Michael Osei, Didi Dramani, Frimpong Manson, Paa Kwesi Fabin, David Duncan and recently head coach of the senior national team the Black Stars CK Akonnor have had their turn at the club.

“You have to manage yourself and do something to improve your CV,” Hayford told West FM.

“People accord you the needed respect and pat your shoulders when they realize you’ve coach Kotoko before because it isn’t a small club.

“Everyone wants to coach Kotoko. Coaches will still come chasing for the job even if the salary cap is pegged at GhC 200.00.

“You can ask ‘Coach Opeele’ how much he was receiving at Kotoko? He quizzed.

The former Ashanti Gold trainer has openly express interest in the vacant Technical Directorship position at the Ghana Football Association and subsequently tendered in his application.
