John Vigah, the new Communications Director of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) has received a hearty welcome from the Communications Department of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and promise all the support to make him achieve his vision for the federation.
The multiple award winner who is also sports editor at the Ghanaian Times will be working with the president of the GWF who happens to be the president of the GOC, Ben Nunoo Mensah.
Vigah who has over 25 years experience as a sports journalist promised to give out his experience and promote weightlifting in Ghana to the highest levels and biggest platforms.
The long serving member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and AIPS who is optimistic that Ghana would be represented in weightlifting at the next Olympic Games advised the media to promote other sports aside football.
He noted that the less financed sports have given the nation more medals and the government should support them.
John Vigah, an author who has written many books urged the sports media to research more if the want to get better news, and also profile the sports personalities.
He also spoke against negative and insulting reportage, and noted that the media is highly respected so they must work hard and not lose their credibility.
