I did not fail my trials in Romania- Shafiu Mumuni

Ashantigold prolific forward Shafiu Mumuni who left the shores of Ghana for Romania has returned after successful trials with Romanian outfit CFR Cluj.

The 24-year-old forward has left a void in the Ashgold front line after he left making it difficult for the Obuasi based side to flourish in terms of scoring.

The introduction of lanky forward Benedict Wobenu has not leaved to expectation as the former Accra Lions striker has scored two goals since joining.

Shafiu is knee on making a return to Ashgold and has also been on the list of Asante Kotoko have gathered.

‘It is true I went to Romania to have stints with CFR Cluj together with some players from Argentina and Paraguay.

Everything went on smoothly but the FA suspended the league in the week I had to complete the paper works because of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The club president called yesterday and assured he will invite me to complete the paper works whenever the league resumes.

I still have a contract with Ashgold hence my decision to continue with them when the league resumes’.

‘I have heard the rumor in the media linking me to Asante Kotoko but they haven’t been any official approach but I’m ever ready to play for them, it’s a matter of negotiation and whether I will be content with the amount they will offer’. He told Kumasi FM.
