Medeama SC has moved to the top of the league table with 23 points after piping Great Olympics 1-0 at the Akoon Park in Tarkwa to complete match day 12 fixtures.
The Mauves and Yellow picked their seventh win of the season as they continue to keep tabs on the league title – though they are level on points with Aduana and Berekum Chelsea, they have a better goal advantage than the two teams.
Head coach for the home side Samuel Boadu returned to the technical bench after missing three matches due to an ill-health condition which kept him away from the team.
The match began with Medeama dictating pace from the early stages.
However, ball control among both teams was a serious thing to brood over, all due to a soggy pitch. Thanks to the rains that has allowed the skies for months finally announced it’s presence in Tarkwa.
But the players showed much enthusiasm and commitment in picking the points at stake, with Olympics staying strong and resolute to thwart all attacks.
On the 20th minute, Nana Kofi Babil, who joined Medeama last year during the summer transfer window fired in a low shot which was parried on the path of striker Prince Opoku Agyemang who wasted no time by tapping in for the first goal of the game.
He has thus scored nine goals in the league so far.
Great Olympics massed a couple of times but failed to utilize any chance on their path as they suffered their seventh defeat of the season.
With Medeama going top of the league table, Olympics are left 15th on the league table with 11 points.
