Ivorian forward Gervinho scored for Parma to secure a 1-0 win at Sassuolo in Italy’s Serie A on his return to action on Sunday.
The former Arsenal player missed Parma’s last five matches partly because he was ordered to train alone earlier this month after missing a number of training sessions in a bid to push through a move to Qatari club Al-Sadd.
But he was allowed to return to training with the team last week after he apologised.
“On Gervinho I believe that when you make a decision you have to reset and start again,” the Parma coach Robert D’Aversa said before Sunday’s game. “All that has happened is now in the past.”
A 2015 Africa Cup of Nations winner with Ivory Coast, Gervinho has made 18 appearances so far this season for Parma, scoring five goals.
