US basketball legend Koby Bryant has been killed in a helicopter crash in California according to an eye witness account.
The five-time NBA champion was travelling in his private helicopter when the engine burst into flames above the city of Calabasas.
According a story carried by BBC, an eyewitnesses told news site TMZ they heard the helicopter’s engine spluttering before it went down.
Aside Bryant, five (5) other people have been confirmed dead following the crash in the city of Calabasas including his 13-year-old daughter Giana Maria Onore.
Bryant, 41, a legend of the NBA spent his entire 20-year career with Los Angeles Lakers – winning the MVP in 2008 and two-time NBA final MVP.
He also won an Oscar for best short animated film in 2018 for Dear Basketball, a five-minute film based on a love letter to the sport he had written in 2015.
