139 contingent to represent Ghana at 2019 Africa Games

A contingent of 139 athletes and officials will represent Ghana at the 2019 Africa Games to be staged in Rabat, Morocco from August 19 to 31, according to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

A statement on the GOC official Twitter account gave the breakdown of the contingent as 91 athletes, 29 coaches and 19 officials.

The nation will participate in 14 sporting disciplines according to the GOC. While 16 athletes will participate in athletics, boxing has 10 with table tennis presenting 6 athletes at the 12th edition of the continent’s flagship competition.

Below are the disciplines and the number of athletes to represent the country in each discipline.

Athletics – 16
Boxing – 10
Badminton – 4
Table tennis – 6
Tennis – 6
Fencing – 4
Beach Volleyball – 2
Weightlifting – 5
Karate-Do – 5
Taekwondo – 5
Judo – 5
Cycling – 2
Swimming – 3
Football – 18

Meanwhile, the International Games & Competitions Committee (IGCC) has unveiled kits for Team Ghana ahead of the Games in Rabat.
